Probiotics (the ‘good’ gut bacteria) are essential for full health. Prebiotics (if you’re confused by the term) are the nutritious fibre-dense foods that are the ‘food’ of the probiotics themselves! The gut is such a vital part of our health. It is such a critical area of what we do with Vibrant Life Key #2 … Read more
Vibrant Life Keys
We use the Vibrant Life Keys as the basis for our Health & Wellness Coaching.
There are seven (7) Vibrant Life Keys which combine to recommend changes and/or improvements to areas of ‘healthstyle’ including ideal neurological function, nutrition and internal chemistry, movement, brain function (thinking, emotion and more) and social interaction.
They also underpin the need to understand, identify, eliminate or counteract the toxic loads or deficiency states which may be found in how you are living life.
This is about helping you understand how to ‘do’ life better, helping you prioritise and implement changes that can manifest this better function and quality of life.
Remember that these 7 Keys are about working toward cellular functional purity and sufficiency – as they relate to the ‘needs’ (genetically-determined requirements) for life.
This in turn expresses itself as improved health and function for the entire organism – us.
Keys 1-5 could be considered the ‘correct principles’ in the above formula. They inter-relate as each is vital to the performance or success of the other – however the over-arching requirement is an optimally functioning nervous system from which intelligent co-ordination and control arise.
Unless these principles are put into action in a consistent manner, the chance of significant improvements to health and wellbeing are minimal.
Part of the process of moving further toward purity and sufficiency is the reduction and/or removal of negative DISTRESS (toxicity loads and deficiency states in Physical, Biochemical, Mental-Emotional and Social realms or domains).
According to Maslow, there are a series of expanded human needs categorised as:
- Cognitive Needs (knowledge and understanding, curiosity, exploration, need for meaning and predictability),
- Aesthetic needs (appreciation and search for beauty, balance, form),
- Self-actualisation needs (realizing personal potential, self-fulfilment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences) and finally,
- Transcendence needs (motivated by values transcending beyond the personal self (e.g., mystical experiences and
certain experiences with nature, aesthetic experiences, sexual experiences, service to others, the pursuit of science, religious faith, etc.)
These needs are encapsulated within Keys 4 & 5.

Healthier amounts, types and proportions of fats in our blood can be developed with appropriate levels of movement. A ‘Lipid’ is the technical name for fats and oils. Blood lipids are the relative amount and proportion of fats, cholesterol, and other molecules that they form which are found in the blood. Clearly this is a … Read more
It is obvious that if you exercise more, you have a leaner, trimmer body, with less fat storage and better functioning, more developed muscle – this gives us a healthier body composition that also ‘looks’ better. Body composition is in many the ‘holy grail’ for many – how we look is often (erroneously) used as … Read more
It is common sense that movement (exercise) is essential for maintaining good cardiovascular function – heart health, blood vessel health and keeping blood pressure in a healthy range. An improvement of heart and blood vessel health toward homeostatic (healthy) function can only occur as the result of the genes responding to healthier levels of environmental … Read more
Insulin sensitivity is critical in human health; one of the primary factors that contribute to ideal levels of Insulin sensitivity is appropriate levels of movement. We’ve commonly heard the word ‘Insulin’ a lot in common conversation – we know it as the ‘diabetes’ hormone, yet it has many more roles than reducing blood sugar levels. … Read more
While there are many different potentially stressful stimuli occuring in the external environment outside of us, or in our internal environment – inside our skin they can be collapsed into only TWO prime categories – toxicity or deficiency. These stimuli in our lives initiate or cause us stress. Environmental stressors are at the root of … Read more
Insulin resistance is a major ‘pillar’ of chronic ill-health. Read more about these ‘pillars’ here – it’s truly important information to understand. Body resistance to insulin comes about because of sustained high blood sugar levels/load that cause the pancreas to secrete large quantities of insulin. Normally one of the major effects of Insulin is lowering … Read more
High blood sugar levels are a consistent health-risk for many of us – whether or not we are ‘officially’ diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. This comes about primarily as a result of the foods a lot of us in industrialised society choose to eat. These foods are mostly highly refined, non-fibre ‘foods’ containing refined sugars/corn … Read more
In another article here, we describe the release of stress hormones as part of the body’s ‘fear & protection’ reaction. The question is, “what does that mean for how our bodies work?” The negative health effects of increased stress hormones being released on an ongoing basis are stark and far-reaching. Almost every current ‘disease of … Read more
